The Fine Art of Choosing the Right Prescription Glasses

Did you know that choosing the right prescription glasses is an art form? it is. You have to get the best frames to compliment the shape and coloring of your face and hair. Sometimes, your eye color should also be taken into consideration when choosing the correct eyeglass frames for you. Luckily, we have professionals at our office who are trained in selecting the eyewear that will suit you the most. You are also free to choose for yourself. More than style and complimentary shapes and colors, your happiness with your eyeglass frames is the most important aspect of choosing them.

Eye Exam For Prescription Glasses

When you come into Silicon Valley Eye Physicians, we will give you a comprehensive vision test to make sure your eyes are healthy, and that your existing or new prescription for glasses is accurate. If we need to write a new prescription for you based on the results of your eye exam, we will do that.

Your eye exam with us will include testing for visual acuity, strength, and overall eye health. This involves testing for things like glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, depth perception, reaction to light, color perception, and the strength of your peripheral vision. Once we have all of these measurements, we can determine if your existing glasses are still good for your needs, or if you need a prescription change.

Either way, we will invite you to speak with one of our eyewear professionals after your exam, to choose a new pair of frames to go with new or existing lenses if you desire. You are under no obligation to buy frames or to buy them from us, but we find that many of our clients like to change their look with a fresh new pair of frames.

What to Consider When Choosing the Right Eyeglasses

You can browse our eyeglass frames showroom and try on our large selection of frames yourself to determine what you like best. If you would prefer professional assistance in selecting the frames that will suit you most while fitting in with your individual style, you can ask for and receive assistance from anyone on our warm and helpful showroom staff in making your selection.

If you choose to work with one of our professionals in selecting your frames, you will be asked to consider the following items:

The Size of the Lenses--We have lenses ranging from large to small and can make them fit into whatever frames you choose. If you usually wear large frames and are considering smaller ones or vice versa, it is important that you spend some time trying on different sizes in our showroom to determine if you like how they look on you.

The Shape of the Frames--The shape of the frames should ideally compliment the shape of your face in order to look the best on you. If you aren't sure if the shapes you are looking at compliment your face shape, our professionals can help you determine this, as they are trained in this art, and can direct you to the best shapes for you.

The Color of the Frames--You can simply select a color you like, or, if you want your lenses to blend in better with your overall look, you can choose a color that compliments or matches your hair and/or eye color. Our associates can help you in making this selection, as well.
